Employee Spotlight: Joel Morse
Position: Residential Service Professional | Community Served: Lakes Region, NH
The pinnacle of what we consider a true service professional, Joel has been with JP Pest Services since 2013 and has been assisting our customers with household pests ever since. You’ll usually see him driving through the Laconia area; however, he is known to venture all around Lake Winnipesaukee, as far south as Concord and as far north as Thornton. If you see one of our vehicles driving around the southwest side of the lake, it may very well be Joel!
Let’s get to know Joel...
What is your most memorable experience on the job since starting with JP Pest Services?
Service-related, I'd say the most memorable experience was dealing with an aggressive wasp nest in a wall void in the basement of a home. This resulted in dozens of wasps flying around the basement, making me feel like I was in a horror movie. I was able to take care of the issue, but being that it was my first season with the company, it was certainly daunting.
Non-service-related, I once saved a boat that was drifting away from the dock when the wind picked up. The boat belonged to a neighbor of the customer I was serving, both of which lived on the lake. When I realized what was happening, I jumped into the water, fully clothed, to retrieve it. The owner had just come outside when I grabbed it, and together we got the boat on his trailer and out of the water.
What is your favorite part about being on the JP Pest Services team?
I enjoy the people I work with; we all seem to be a good group of people. It's a nice feeling to know that we have people of such high caliber.
Tell us about your greatest success story since starting at JP Pest Services.
Any time I can solve an issue for a customer is a success story. In general, we are the last resort for people after they have already tried everything themselves; and when I arrive, it's a great feeling to know that I can solve the problem for them.
What is the coolest pest you’ve seen on the job?
This is probably just the inner nerd in me, but I always like finding unexpected things in homes. Whether it's a really interesting-looking spider on a sticky trap or an overabundance of cockroaches in the kitchen, I always enjoy the unexpected. I once found a pure white weasel in a customers basement crawlspace, so that was probably the coolest animal I’ve seen on the job.
What is your favorite type of service to perform?
I actually enjoy the "gross" services the most. Roaches, fleas, bed bugs... bring ‘em on! Performing ant treatments are also fun, particularly carpenter ants. It's amazing how much detective work and inspection has to be done in order for these services to be effective.
